Begum
Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain: A pioneer of women’s liberation movement in
undivided India. She was born in 1880 in a village called Pairaband in the
district Rangpur. Widely regarded as Bengal's earliest and boldest feminist
writer, Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain was a pioneering and creative educationist
and social activist, and the school she founded in Kolkata, the Sakhawat
Memorial School for Girls, still thrives.She was also a social activist, who
organized middle-class women in undertaking slum development and training
poor women in incomegenerating activities.

Raja Ram
Mohan Roy: Most people remember Raja Ram Mohan Roy as the man who fought
to abolishSatidaha (the practice of a wife immolating herself on her
husband's funeral pyre) and also founded the Brahmo Samaj. But his
contribution was a great deal more than that. Many are not aware that this
legendary personality has served in Rangpur with British East India Company
during 1809 and 1814 for 5 years.

Henry Beveridge Beveridge was a British economist and social reformer,
closely associated with the development of the welfare state.
William Beveridge was born on 5 March 1879 in Rangpur, Bengal, where his father was a judge in the Indian Civil Service. In 1919, he became director of the London School of Economics where he remained until 1937. |

Dr. M. A.
Wazed Miah (16 Feb. 1942 ? 9 May 2009) was born on 16 February 1942 in
the village of Fatehpur, at Pirganj, Rangpur District. He was a reputed
Bangladeshi nuclear scientist, writer of a number of well-known texts in
physics books, a former Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission.

Sajeeb
Wazed Joy: Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed (born July 27, 1971), also known as Sajeeb
Wazed Joy, is an IT professional who was selected by World Economic Forum as
one of the 250 Young Global Leaders of the World. He is the son of Sheikh
Hasina Wazed, the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the grandson of
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first President of Bangladesh.

Muhammad Ershad Hussain Muhammad Ershad: Hussein Muhammad Ershad born in
February 1, 1930 is a politician who was President of Bangladesh from 1983 to
1990. Previously, he was Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Army and then Chief
Martial Law Administrator in 1982.
